Zouk Stuttgart
Brazilian Zouk grew out of Lambada in the early 1990s and is built on flowing movement and technically demanding figures. Stuttgart's scene meets every Tuesday, 7:30-10:30pm, for an open-air social at Rosengarten near Villa Berg – rain or shine. It's a small crowd but well connected internationally, with touring artists regularly stopping by for workshops and parties. Courses run through Stuttgart University's sports program and a handful of independent dance schools; zoukstuttgart.de keeps track of who's teaching what.
Kizomba Stuttgart
Kizomba blends Angolan Semba with Cape Verdean Kabo Love and Portuguese pop influences, danced close, slow and highly musical. Urban Kiz split off from it as a faster variant that borrows moves from Salsa and Bachata. Around Stuttgart you'll find both: quiet Kizomba nights and the KizombaInvasion festival, now in its ninth edition, which draws dancers from well beyond the region.
Bachata Stuttgart
Bachata Stuttgart is run by Lou (Louisa Baumsteiger), a trained dancer, event organiser and psychologist by trade. She teaches Wednesdays at Forró Haus Stuttgart-Süd alongside Ferni, a Dominican instructor who trained under her. Classes run in English with role rotation, so everyone learns to lead and follow regardless of gender – a deliberately queer-friendly, international group.
